For
20 years Mitch Ratcliffe has chronicled and participated in the
development of the Internet. From his early days on The W.E.L.L. to the
advent of blogging and podcasting, Ratcliffe has developed new media
products and services.
In
the 1990s, Ratcliffe was covering networking, privacy and cryptography
for MacWEEK, and was the editor of Digital Media, the first publication
to anticipate the rise of the commercial and user-centric Internet. He
was the host of the Digital World Conference in 1994 and 1995, becoming
Vice President of Content for SoftBank Exposition and Conference
Company. During his tenure, he contributed to the launch of the Java
One Conference, Networld+Interop’s online efforts and several
SoftBank-banked startups. He also led the acquisition of the Global
Information Infrastructure Awards by SoftBank in 1995.
By
1996, Ratcliffe had launched Internet/Media Strategies to consult with
and start and invest in companies. As an advisor for SoftBank, he led
the investmetn in Electric Classifieds and Match.com, He consulted with
Internet leaders like America Online, Audible, EarthWeb, Time Warner,
Personify, and many others.
In
1999, Ratcliffe took on the news team development for ON24, the
financial news network. He co-authored the business plans for the
company and the news division, building the editorial and production
teams from inception. He left in 2001, when I/MS partnered with The
Petkevich Group, a San Francisco merchant bank focusing on healthcare
and information technology. In 2002, he launched InnovationWorld, a
provider of global foreign direct investment research.
In
2004, Ratcliffe partnered with Todd Parsons to found Persuadio, a
social network analytics startup currently in beta testing under the
name BuzzLogic. It is one of
several companies in the I/MS portfolio.
Ratcliffe
welcomes new project queries and can assemble the talented teams that
can execute on aggressive inventive programming that is profitable and

people.
