Roll on, Columbia
Such tragedy. This happened just a couple hours after I went to bed, so when I woke up early this afternoon and heard it was just a shock, a sad shock. Ten minutes later I learned that the woman I almost married during a six-year relationship, before I got married to my wife 16 years ago, had died. I'd talked to her several times recently, as she battled breast, lung and brain cancer. So sad.
And then I have to tell my kids about Columbia, because they will certainly hear. My son wants to go to the Kitty Hawk Centennial this year and I will certainly take him. It's a miracle those astronauts were in space 100 years after we took to the sky, that we've been there for 40 years.
We should not be retreating from space. We need to start anew. We should conquer cancer. We fight one another and not for one another too often.
