TiVo adds a pro

TiVo adds a pro

I'm impressed. TiVo has hired Marty Yudkovitz to be its president. Formerly executive vice president at NBC, where I met him years ago when he was a Digital Media subscriber, he is wicked smart about developing new media business. This is a guy who has consistently gotten the Web and managed to navigate NBC on a new media course that, given all the institutional inertia, was not disastrous and has had some very bright spots, like CNBC and MSNBC.com. That may sound like damning with feint praise, but it's not. At TiVO, this guy could be a monster revenue generator.

I'm raising my estimations about TiVo's viability as a branded entity (though it still will likely end up in a larger company).
